The 9th Northern Wave IFF came to an end this sunday. The festival wants to thank the locals and the authorities in Snæfellsb for making the festival feel so welcome in their town.
With the support of local companies the festival managed to set up a fully equipted cinema in The Freezer theatre that will continue to entertain the guests of the theatre.
A unique and intimate atmosphere was created among locals, families and foreign guests of the festival.
The Northern Wave’s collaboration with The Freezer will continue next year when the festival will celebrate it’s 10th edition.
Apart from a short film marathon and music videos, the festival offered a schedule including a fish course competition, concerts and a first time ever, special program for kids.

The guests of the festival were somewhere between 150-200 at it’s peak. 30 foreign guest came to Iceland to attend the festival and most of them had a film at the festival.Anna Þóra at Kaffi Rif, organized a pop up restaurant for lunch on her birthday on saturday and the whole festival sang her birthday song to her.

The short film Cubs by Nanna Kristín Magnúsdóttir was chosen the best Icelandic short film. Best international short film award went to “As Vacas de Wisconsin” by Sara Traba.
The best icelandic music video award went to Logi Hilmarsson for Cryptochrome’s Playdough.

Dögg Mósesdóttir the founder and director of the festival is now on her way to Jihlava International Documentary film festival where she will pitch Northern wave and participate in a pannel about distribution ways for videoart in festivals and museums.
We thank the guests of the fesitval, locals, participants in the fish course competition and local companies for a supporting us and coming to the festival.
